Über Matan Atad
Matan is a Ph.D. student jointly supervised by Prof. Daniel Rückert (AI for Medicine) and Prof. MD Jan Kirschke (Neuroradiology) as part of the iBack-epic project, which leverages image analysis to explore the causes of back pain using large population studies. He earned his M.Sc. in Informatics from TUM and has a professional background in the cybersecurity industry, including serving as a research team leader at Argus Cyber Security Ltd (acquired by Continental AG). Matan’s research focuses on diagnosing spinal abnormalities and degenerative conditions from MRI using explainable AI methods, as well as studying the progression of spinal metastases through Physics-informed neural networks.
